What’s a baby shower without a little sangria? Not for mother-to-be, of course, but for the guests! I believe the guests deserve to be showered as well, and the more food and drinks, the better. OH! And the decorations.
Over-the-top is kind of required for showers, in my opinion; there was so much pink in my house this weekend, the boys were getting hives.
Danielle and sweet Baby Girl Selby (due date 2 weeks and counting!!) & Amanda were my lovely co-hosts for Baby Girl Bourgois’ shower (due date 5ish weeks and counting!) and we couldn’t have pulled it off without each other. “That’s called teamwork!” Aiden would say.
I don’t know how Danielle stayed on her feet so long – she was cool as a cucumber, even after a little cake drama at the bakery, she wasn’t even breaking a sweat! She elegantly delivered this beautiful cake, a killer artichoke dip, buttery popcorn, veggies and a delectable fruit dip. (Of which, the artichoke dip was enjoyed by me for breakfast on Sunday morning. Don’t judge…)
Amanda’s bean dip was a hit. Just don’t mind the parts where the goods were scrapped off leaving just the beans below. I told you! Phanny does NOT eat beans. Not even for a million dollars and not even in a dish his wife made.
Wash it all down with punch or this refreshing, fruity, white wine sangria. This sangria is light and fresh; perfect for a spring garden party, a bridal shower, and yes, even a baby shower.
I like to make the base the night before to let the flavors really come together and then top with club soda before serving. You could make this the day of the party, but try to do it a few hours before serving to get the deepest flavor. Don’t add the soda until serving.
Best White Wine Sangria Recipe
- 2 bottles white wine (pinot grigio is my preference)
- 1 cup peach brandy
- 1/2 cup orange liquor
- 1 cup orange juice
- 2-4 tablespoons sugar
- 1 cup club soda
- 2 oranges, unpeeled, sliced into rings
- 2 lemons, unpeeled, sliced into rings
- 1 cup frozen fruit mix (anything goes: berries, tropical, peaches, mangoes, etc…)
In a large pitcher, mix the wine, brandy, orange liquor, orange juice and sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves. Add citrus slices and refrigerate several hours, or overnight for best flavor.
To serve, add frozen fruit to the pitcher or to individual glasses as “ice cubes” and top with club soda. Quick stir to combine and enjoy!
Prep time: 5 minutes, if serving immediately
Makes: 14-16ish servings
